Marquette University

Marquette University is an independent coeducational school in Milwaukee. It is sponsored by the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) and governed by a board composed of Jesuits and lay people. The university has a graduate school and an evening division, and it also offers summer sessions. Marquette was chartered in 1864 and opened in 1881. It became a university in 1907.
