Maseru

Maseru, << MAZ uh `roo` >> (pop. 109,382), is the capital of Lesotho. It lies near the northwest border. A railroad links Maseru with cities in South Africa, which surrounds Lesotho. The city is the seat of government for the country and has a hospital and technical training school where manual and local arts are taught. Most of Maseru’s residents are part of the Sotho ethnic group. Other groups include refugees from South Africa and people of European descent.
