Matthias, Saint

Matthias, << muh THY uhs, >> Saint, was an early Christian. He is mentioned once in the New Testament as a follower of Jesus who was chosen by the remaining 11 apostles to replace Judas Iscariot (Acts 1:15-26). According to later tradition, Matthias traveled in Judea, Turkey, and Ethiopia as a missionary. His feast day is May 14 in the West and August 9 in the Eastern Orthodox Churches.
