Michael, Saint, is one of the four archangels in both Jewish and Christian scriptures. He is considered the patron angel and guardian of Israel. In art, he is usually portrayed as a warrior. In Revelation 12: 7-9, Michael and his angels fight a dragon. Later tradition identifies him as the angel mentioned in Acts 7: 38 who gave the law to Moses on Mount Sinai. His feast day is the festival of Michaelmas–on September 29 in the West and on November 8 in the Eastern Orthodox Churches. See also Michaelmas .
