Naples, Bay of, is an inlet of the Tyrrhenian Sea on the southwest coast of Italy near the city of Naples. The bay lies between Cape Miseno and the Isle of Ischia on the north and the Sorrento Peninsula and the Isle of Capri on the south. Mount Vesuvius, an active volcano, rises adjacent to the bay near Naples. The bay is famous for the beauty of its coastline and its deep blue waters. The waters near Naples are polluted. The southern shores of the bay have many tourist resorts.
