National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is an organization of American manufacturing companies. It is the largest broad-based manufacturing advocacy (support) group in the United States. It serves as a policymaking body for the manufacturing industry on industrial and economic matters, and other public issues. It also interprets industry’s policies to the federal government and the public. The organization has thousands of member companies.
Representatives from NAM’s member companies form policymaking committees that make recommendations to its Board of Directors. The board and an Executive Committee meet several times a year to determine policies. NAM was founded in 1895. It has headquarters in Washington, D.C.
