Nemean << nih MEE uhn or NEE mee uhn >> Games were one of the four ancient Greek national festivals. The others were the Isthmian Games, the Olympic Games, and the Pythian Games.
The Nemean Games took place every other year. They were held at the shrine of Zeus in Nemea, a valley in eastern Peloponnesus (the southern peninsula of Greece). They included athletic and musical contests. The first recorded Nemean Games were held in 573 B.C.
