Paisley << PAYZ lee >> is a town in western Scotland located about 7 miles (11 kilometers) west of Glasgow. Paisley is the capital and largest town of the Renfrewshire Council Area, which has a population of 183,874. The town is known for the patterned shawls it produced during the 1800’s. Paisley is also the name of the design that imitates the pattern used on these shawls.
