Passamaquoddy Bay

Passamaquoddy << `pas` uh muh KWOD ee >> Bay is a part of the Bay of Fundy between Maine, in the United States, and New Brunswick, in Canada. It cuts inland for about 15 miles (24 kilometers) and averages about 10 miles (16 kilometers) in width. The tides on the rocky Maine coast of Passamaquoddy sometimes rise as much as 27 feet (8 meters).

The chief towns in Maine on Passamaquoddy Bay are Eastport and Lubec. The chief towns in New Brunswick are St. Andrews, St. George, and Blacks Harbour. Campobello and Deer islands lie in the bay, and Grand Manan Island is near the entrance to the bay. Important fish products from the bay include herring, lobster, pollock, and sardines.
