Polymorphism

Polymorphism, << `pol` ee MAWR fihz uhm, >> is the occurrence of three or more distinct types of adults in a species. For example, there are three types of adult honey bees–queen, worker, and drone. Polymorphism is common among insects, jellyfish, bacteria, molds, and protozoans. Breeds and varieties of domesticated animals and plants, as well as sexual differences, are not examples of polymorphism.
