Quebracho

Quebracho, << kay BRAH choh, >> is a name used for several South American trees that grow mainly in Argentina and Paraguay. The wood of quebracho trees contains 20 to 30 percent tannin. Workers extract the tannin and export it to the United States for use in tanning leather. The name quebracho comes from a Spanish word meaning ax-breaker. Quebracho trees have hard, tough wood.
