Sokol, << SOH kawl, >> is an international organization that stresses physical fitness and moral strength. The organization has no political or religious connections, and people of any age may join. Sokol was founded in Prague, in what is now the Czech Republic, in 1862. It has chapters in Australia, Canada, the United States, South America, and Europe. American Sokol was founded in 1865 in St. Louis. National headquarters are in Brookfield, Illinois.
