SOS

SOS is the Morse code call for help. It was once widely used by ships and aircrafts in distress. SOS does not stand for anything. It was chosen as a distress signal because it was convenient to send by telegraph. The international code for SOS consists of three dots, three dashes, and three dots. See also Morse code .
