Texas A&M University

Texas A&M University is the flagship institution in a large network of public universities and state agencies in Texas. The official name of this network is the Texas A&M University System. Agencies in the system conduct research and provide services in a number of areas, including agriculture, forestry, and veterinary medicine. The system includes 11 universities and 1 health science center. Texas A&M University, which has its main campus at College Station, was established in 1876. Its athletic teams are called the Aggies. The George Bush Presidential Library is affiliated with the university. Texas A&M has branch campuses in Galveston and in the country of Qatar. Prairie View A&M University, in Prairie View, also was established in 1876. Tarleton State University, in Stephenville, was founded in 1899. Texas A&M International University, in Laredo, was founded in 1970. Texas A&M University-Central Texas, in Killeen, was established in 1999. Texas A&M University-Commerce was established in 1889. Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi was founded in 1947. Texas A&M University-Kingsville was founded in 1925. Texas A&M University-San Antonio was established in 2000. Texas A&M University-Texarkana was established in 1971. West Texas A&M University, in Canyon, was established in 1910. The Texas A&M Health Science Center, with locations around the state, was established in 1999.
