Tiber River

Tiber, << TY buhr, >> River is one of the longest rivers in Italy. The Tiber rises in the Apennine Mountains in central Italy, 4,160 feet (1,268 meters) above sea level. The river flows for about 245 miles (394 kilometers), first through the Sabine Mountains, a range of the Apennines, then through Rome and into the Tyrrhenian Sea. It flows into the sea through branches at Ostia and Fiumicino. The Tiber River has often overflowed its banks. Flood embankments have been built at Rome.
