Travelers Aid International

Travelers Aid International is a network of agencies that provides services for individuals and families who have experienced difficulties related to homelessness, traveling, or moving their place of residence. Such people include people with disabilities, the homeless, immigrants, job seekers, runaway children, and stranded travelers.

Travelers Aid agencies are located throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. They offer such services as financial aid, professional counseling, and employment information, as well as food, clothing, and shelter. The first Travelers Aid organization was founded in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1851. The Travelers Aid Association of America was established in 1917. It was replaced in 1984 by the National Organization of Travelers Aid Societies. In 2000, the National Organization of Travelers Aid Societies changed its name to Travelers Aid International to reflect its activity outside the United States. Travelers Aid headquarters are in Washington, D.C.
