United Methodist Church

United Methodist Church is a Christian denomination based in the United States. It was formed in 1968 through a union of the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church. The United Methodist Church is related to more than 100 educational institutions, including seminaries, colleges, universities, professional schools, and pre-collegiate schools. The church does missionary work in dozens of countries.

The United Methodist Church takes an active stand on social, economic, and political issues. It works for world peace, justice for all, and an end to all discrimination. Only the church’s General Conference has the authority to speak for it. The General Conference meets every four years.
