Wahoo is a fish that lives in warm parts of the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans. In American waters, it is found from Florida to Venezuela in the Atlantic Ocean, and from Mexico to Ecuador and the Hawaiian Islands in the Pacific. The wahoo is known as peto in Latin America and as ono in Hawaii.
The wahoo has a long body with a pointed snout and a long fin on the back. The back is dark blue and the sides are silver with wavy bars. Wahoos can grow to a length of more than 8 feet (2.4 meters) and can weigh more than 180 pounds (82 kilograms).
