Bill of Rights Day

Bill of Rights Day commemorates the acceptance of the Bill of Rights as amendments to the United States Constitution. Its purpose is to make Americans increasingly aware of their rights and responsibilities as citizens. President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed December 15 as Bill of Rights Day in 1941, and it has been observed nationally since then. Some states, including California and New York, set aside an entire week as Bill of Rights Week. The Bill of Rights is in the first 10 amendments. See also Bill of rights .
