Watson, Thomas John

Watson, Thomas John (1874-1956), was an American industrialist. He worked for the National Cash Register Company (now NCR Corporation) for 15 years. In 1914, he was made president of a company that became International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) in 1924. Under Watson’s leadership from 1914 to 1956, it became one of the world’s most successful corporations. Watson was born on Feb. 17, 1874, in Campbell, New York. He died on June 19, 1956.
