Woodfull, Bill

Woodfull, Bill (1897-1965), was one of Australia’s finest cricket captains and opening batsmen. Cricket fans remember him for his quiet manner and for his respect for good sportsmanship. He captained Australia in 25 Test matches between 1930 and 1934, against England, South Africa, and the West Indies. He played in a total of 35 Test matches from 1926 to 1934, scoring 2,300 runs at an average of 46.00 runs an inning. In first-class matches, he scored 13,388 runs at an average of 64.99 runs an inning, including 49 centuries. William Maldon Woodfull was born on Aug. 22, 1897, in Maldon, Victoria. He died on Aug. 11, 1965.
