Wyoming, University of, is a state-supported, coeducational school in Laramie, Wyoming. It is noted for its geology program, its American studies program, and its large manuscript and printed collections on the history of the Western United States. The university has an astronomical observatory and an atmospheric monitoring station in the Medicine Bow Mountains. It also has a biological research station near Jackson and a number of agricultural research centers. The University of Wyoming was founded in 1886. The men’s athletic teams are called the Cowboys and the women’s athletic teams are called the Cowgirls.
