Yang, << yahng, >> Chen Ning (1922-…), a Chinese-born physicist, shared the 1957 Nobel Prize in physics with Tsung Dao Lee (see Lee, Tsung Dao ). They received the award for their contributions to the laws of fundamental particles. They disproved the law of conservation of parity, which concerned the physical interactions of fundamental nuclear particles. Yang was born on Sept. 22, 1922, in Hefei, Anhui, China. He was a staff member at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, from 1949 to 1965. He served as director of the Institute for Theoretical Physics at State University of New York at Stony Brook from 1966 to 1999. See also Parity .
