Clark, Jim

Clark, Jim (1936-1968), became one of the world’s greatest automobile racing drivers. Clark won 25 Grand Prix races. Grand Prix races are road races held in many countries in which points are awarded to the top drivers. Clark won world racing titles in 1963 and 1965 by earning the most points in Grand Prix races. In 1963, he became the youngest driver ever to win the world title. He held that record until 1972, when the Brazilian driver Emerson Fittipaldi won the world title at the age of 25. Clark won the 1965 Indianapolis 500 race. Clark was born on March 4, 1936, in Fife County, Scotland. He was killed in a race in Hockenheim, Germany, on April 7, 1968.
