Fadiman, Clifton (1904-1999), became well known as a master of ceremonies for several radio and television programs. His friendly wit helped make the radio show, “Information Please”, one of the most popular programs on the air from 1938 to 1948.
Fadiman was born in New York City and graduated from Columbia University. He served as book editor of The New Yorker magazine from 1933 to 1943. Later, Fadiman became an essayist for Holiday magazine and a judge for the Book of the Month Club. He published Party of One, a collection of his essays, in 1955. He also edited I Believe, Reading I’ve Liked, and The American Treasury.
