Blaenau Gwent << BLAH now gwehnt >> (pop. 66,904) is a unitary authority in south Wales, administered from the town of Ebbw Vale. The unitary authority’s other towns include Abertillery, Blaina, Brynmawr, Nantyglo, and Tredegar. The district’s traditional industries of coal mining and steel production declined in the late 1900’s. New companies moved to the area that make such products as computer tapes, disks, and batteries.
