De Lee, Joseph Bolivar (1869-1942), an American obstetrician and gynecologist, was noted for his work in improving obstetrical methods. He devised 40 instruments to help the obstetrician, including an incubator for premature infants. De Lee founded the Chicago Lying-in Hospital in 1895 and the Maternity Center in 1932. His films on obstetrics were shown all over the world. De Lee taught obstetrics at Northwestern University and the University of Chicago. He was born in Cold Springs, New York.
