Togo, Heihachiro

Togo, << TOH goh >> Heihachiro (1847-1934), was one of Japan’s greatest admirals and naval heroes of the 1900’s. He achieved fame during the Russo-Japanese War of 1904 and 1905. He commanded the blockade of Lushun (also called Port Arthur) and then led the Japanese fleet in a spectacular victory at the Battle of Tsushima, in which almost the entire Russian fleet from the Baltic Sea was destroyed.
