Ritschl, Albrecht

Ritschl, Albrecht (1822-1889), a German theologian, influenced many liberal European, British, and American preachers and teachers. He tried to show that the “values” of Jesus’ teachings could be true even though modern science questioned many basic parts of the New Testament. He wrote many books, including Justification and Reconciliation (1872). Ritschl was born in Berlin.
