Case, Clifford Philip

Case, Clifford Philip (1904-1982), a New Jersey Republican, served in the United States Senate from 1955 to 1979. Case served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1945 to 1953. He began his political career in 1938, when he won election to the Rahway, New Jersey, common council. He served in the New Jersey General Assembly in 1943 and 1944. In 1953 and 1954, Case was president of the Ford Foundation’s Fund for the Republic, which studied threats to American liberties. He was born in Franklin Park, New Jersey, on April 16, 1904. He died on March 5, 1982.
