Moreell, Ben

Moreell, << moh REHL, >> Ben (1892-1978), an American naval officer, founded the Seabees of the United States Navy. He commanded them during World War II. Moreell served both as chief of the bureau of yards and docks and as chief of the civil engineer corps of the U.S. Navy from 1937 to 1946. He retired from the Navy as an admiral in 1946. In 1947, he became president and chairman of the board of Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation. He retired in 1958. Moreell was born in Salt Lake City, Utah.
