Moreton Bay fig is a majestic tree that grows naturally in the rain forests of Queensland and New South Wales, Australia. It is also grown in gardens as an ornamental and shade tree. It grows to a considerable height and has a thick trunk. Aerial roots may grow from the tree’s branches. In tropical areas, some of them may reach the soil. It has large, shiny leaves that are dark green on top and rusty brown below. Its flowers grow in a rounded receptacle. After fertilization, the receptacle grows into an oval, reddish-brown fig.
