Mount Taranaki

Mount Taranaki, also known as Mount Egmont, is a volcanic mountain near the western coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Its peak is 8,260 feet (2,518 meters) above sea level. Taranaki has an almost perfectly shaped volcanic cone, similar in appearance to the cone of Mount Fuji in Japan. Experts believe that Mount Taranaki last erupted more than 300 years ago. The upper slopes of the mountain form the Egmont National Park.
