Uffizi Palace, a famous building in Florence, Italy, contains one of the world’s finest art collections. The collection includes drawings, paintings, prints, and sculptures by many European masters. The palace itself is an outstanding example of the Italian mannerist style of architecture. It was designed by the Italian architect Giorgio Vasari in 1559. The building was originally intended to house government offices, but it was converted into an art gallery about 1575. The palace became a public museum in the 1800’s.
