Worthing (pop. 111,838) is a seaside resort and residential town in West Sussex, England. It lies south of the South Downs, about 10 miles (16 kilometers) west of Brighton and Hove. Worthing has a small fishing industry. Other industries include the manufacture of pharmaceutical chemicals. The town developed as a popular spa during the early 1800’s. It now has its own municipal orchestra.
