Zander

Zander, also known as pike-perch, is a long-bodied relative of the perch that lives in lakes and rivers of central and northern Europe. The zander reaches up to 3 feet (1 meter) in length and has a large number of pointed teeth. It preys mainly on other fish. The zander lives in large lakes and slow-flowing rivers, particularly those with murky waters. It spawns in the spring on gravel or hard clay. The male guards the eggs until they hatch. The zander is fished commercially in central Europe.
