Bowen (pop. 9,612) is a coastal resort town, 118 miles (190 kilometers) south of Townsville, in Queensland, Australia. It is the largest winter producer of tomatoes on the eastern seaboard. A large meatworks processes cattle for export. Coal from Collinsville and Newlands is transported to Bowen by rail for export from the Abbot Point bulk coal loader.
