Colorado College

Colorado College is a private liberal arts and sciences college in Colorado Springs, Colorado. General William Jackson Palmer, founder of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad, set aside land for a college in his plan for the city of Colorado Springs. The Colorado Congregational Church founded the college in 1874. Classes began that same year in a small, wooden building. The college’s first permanent building, Cutler Hall, was completed in 1880. The school’s athletic teams are called the Tigers.
