Boxer

Boxer is a stocky, muscular dog breed developed in Germany. Its name comes from a playful habit of striking out with its front paws. Boxers move quickly and have an alert manner. The boxer was developed from several other breeds and was crossbred with the bulldog by German breeders in the 1800’s.

The boxer has a short, shiny, smooth-lying coat. In color, it may be fawn (light yellowish brown) or brindle (streaked light and dark), with white markings. The boxer has a deep strong chest, a wide skull, and large eyes. It stands 21 to 25 inches (53 to 64 centimeters) tall at the shoulder and weighs about 60 to 75 pounds (27 to 34 kilograms).

The boxer is patient, fearless, and watchful. With training, it is great around children and an excellent family dog. The boxer has plentiful energy, so it needs lots of exercise. It may also be used as a military dog and as a guide dog for the blind.
