Indiana University of Pennsylvania

Indiana University of Pennsylvania is a public institution of higher education in Indiana, Pennsylvania. The university, often called IUP, grants bachelor’s, master’s, and doctor’s degrees. It was founded as Indiana Normal School in 1875. In 1920, it became a degree-granting institution and was renamed State Teachers College at Indiana. It became Indiana State College in 1959 and received its present name in 1965. Besides its main campus in the city of Indiana, the university operates two branch campuses, in Freeport and Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. The Freeport campus is known as IUP at Northpointe. The university’s sports teams are nicknamed the Crimson Hawks.
