Armstrong, Duncan

Armstrong, Duncan (1968-…), an Australian swimmer, won a gold medal at the 1988 Olympic Games for the men’s 200-meter freestyle. He set a then world record of 1 minute 47.25 seconds. He also won a silver medal in the 400-meter freestyle. He competed in the Commonwealth Games at Edinburgh in 1986, where he won two gold medals—for the 400-meter freestyle and as a member of the Australian 200-meter relay team. Armstrong was born on April 7, 1968, in Brisbane. He retired from swimming competition in 1993 and began a career in television.
