Bentley, Dick (1907-1995), was an Australian-born comedian who gained popularity in both Australia and the United Kingdom. British radio listeners knew Bentley for his portrayal of the doleful Ron Glum in the British Broadcasting Corporation’s popular comedy series Take It from Here (1948-1958). Bentley also appeared in a few American and British films.
Charles Walter Bentley was born on May 14, 1907, in Melbourne, Australia. He began his career as a singer and dance band musician before turning to acting. He made his stage debut in Melbourne in 1929. Bentley died on Aug. 27, 1995.
