Coleman, John (1928-1973), an Australian Rules football player, kicked 537 goals in a little over five seasons playing for Essendon, a suburb of Melbourne. He became the only league forward to score 100 goals or more in each of his first two seasons. He scored 100 goals in 1949 and 120 goals in 1950. After he retired, he coached the Essendon team from 1961 to 1967. Coleman was born on Nov. 23, 1928, in Port Fairy, Victoria. He died on April 5, 1973. See also Australian Rules football.
