Davies, Siobhan (1950-…), is a British dancer and choreographer (creator of dances). Davies’s style is one of understated intensity and strong emotional undercurrents. Many of her works explore human relationships. Her most successful productions include Sphynx (1977), Something to Tell (1980), Minor Characters (1983), Silent Partners (1984), Embarque (1988), Signature (1990), Winnsboro Cotton Mills (1992), The Art of Touch (1995), and Trespass (1996).
Susan Davies was born on Sept. 18, 1950, in London. She trained at the London School of Contemporary Dance from 1967 to 1969 and was one of the founding members of the London Contemporary Dance Theatre, which presented its first season in 1969. She stayed there until 1987, serving first as associate choreographer and then resident choreographer. She began choreographing in 1970, and was co-founder and joint director of the collective Second Stride from 1981 to 1986, before forming her own Siobhan Davies Dance Company in 1988. Davies was associate choreographer at the Rambert Dance Company from 1989 to 1993.
