Graham, David

Graham, David (1946-…), an Australian golfer, won two of the four major tournaments in men’s golf. Graham won the United States PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association) championship in 1979. He also won the United States Open in 1981, the first Australian golfer to win that championship. The other men’s majors are the Masters Tournament and the British Open.

In 1970, Graham partnered with Bruce Devlin to win the World Cup. In 1976, Graham became the first Australian to win the World Matchplay Championship. He was a member of the Australian teams that won the Dunhill Cup in 1985 and 1986.

David Anthony Graham was born on May 23, 1946, in Windsor, New South Wales, Australia. He left school at the age of 14 to work at the Riverdale Golf Club. He became a touring professional golfer in the late 1960’s, first playing in Australia and the Far East. He won the Thailand Open and the French Open in 1970. His first victory on the PGA tour came at the Cleveland Open in 1972. Graham joined the Senior PGA Tour in 1996.
