Lady Day is the traditional name of the Christian feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Lady Day is one of the four quarter days, days that begin or end a quarter of the year for the payment of rents, salaries, and other financial obligations. Lady Day falls on March 25.
In the Middle Ages, and until 1751, the civil and legal year began on Lady Day. The fiscal year that now begins on April 6 is the equivalent of Lady Day in the old calendar.
