Marlborough Sounds are a series of deep-sea inlets that form part of the northern coast of the South Island of New Zealand. The two chief sounds are Queen Charlotte Sound and Pelorus Sound. The area has many bays and coves and is a popular tourist attraction. The tourists enjoy yachting, hunting, and fishing. Most of them travel to the area by motorboat from the nearby ports of Havelock and Picton.
