National Gallery of Ireland is an art museum in Dublin. It houses the only large collection of paintings by the Old Masters of European art in the Republic of Ireland. Its paintings include a large group of works done by painters of the Italian Renaissance. The gallery has a national portrait section. It also houses a comprehensive collection of Irish painting and sculpture, as well as collections of vestments and other art objects.
The National Gallery of Ireland was established by an Act of Parliament in 1854. It opened to the public in 1864. The museum has a restaurant and gift shop.
