Raisbeck, Rosina

Raisbeck, Rosina (1916-2006), a noted Australian singer, was a principal soprano for the Covent Garden Opera Company (now Royal Opera) in Covent Garden, London, during the late 1940’s and early 1950’s. She made her debut at the Royal Opera House performing as the third Lady in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s The Magic Flute, in 1948. Raisbeck sang a total of 209 performances with the Royal Opera. She also sang with the Sadler’s Wells Opera, in London, for several years. Raisbeck was born in Ballarat, Victoria, on July 28, 1916, and studied at the New South Wales State Conservatorium of Music in Sydney. Raisbeck died on Dec. 23, 2006.
