Rochdale (pop. 223,773) is a local government area in Greater Manchester, England, centered on the town of Rochdale. The district also includes the towns of Heywood and Middleton. Textile production is a traditional industry. Other industries include warehousing and distribution, and making asbestos and plastic goods.
